ELASTIC WAIST SKIRT

Note: Light fabrics are easier to work with for beginners!

I will provide the elastic & thread, no pattern needed

Purchase Fabric for ONE of the Three Skirts Pictured:

1) Two-Layer Skirt

*To make this skirt: purchase (44-45" wide) fabric the length you want the skirt (from waist
to knees for example) plus 6 inches. For over layer, purchase 45" wide fabric
the length plus 3 inches.

For example, if you want an 18" skirt, purchase 24" of one fabric and 21" of the other.

Optional: American Girl Doll Size

For doll size skirt: purchase 1/4 yard for under layer and 6 inches in length for over layer (this will actually make two doll sized skirts).

2) Two-Layer Skirt With Bias Tape Trim on Top Layer and                            Ruffle on Bottom Layer*

*To make this skirt, purchase the same fabric amounts as Number 1 above,
plus purchase one package
of double fold extra-wide bias tape in a coordinating color.

3) With Three Coordinating Fabrics

*To make this skirt, purchase the desired skirt length, plus six inches for the under layer.
For the upper layer purchase 1/4 yard of the top fabric and enough of the second fabric
for the bottom layer so the total of the upper layer two fabrics equals the bottom length.

For example, if the desired skirt length is 18 inches, purchase 24 inches of the
underneath layer fabric, 9 inches of the top fabric on the upper layer, and
15 inches of the lower fabric on the upper layer.

*Note: Depending on the age/size of your daughter, you may want more fullness in the skirt. If so, you would need to buy twice the length of each fabric.
